I am currently arranging the photo files because I am planning to re-do the pictures in my Friendster, and I saw these pics. Thought I would share it to you guys.
If you follow my blogs (I have four, by the way), you probably have come across with posts about me and mom's vacation in her hometown. In four days, we escaped to paradise, checked out new places, bonded with family, and prayed for the repose of grandpa's soul. It was a great vacation, but sad in a way, because it also served as a despedida party for Uncle Pete and his family who by now lives in the USA.
Anyway, on our second day there, Aunt Rosa prepared for us a very sumptuous breakfast. Nothing fancy about it, it was basically a typical breakfast in the place, but I don't know why I eat a lot whenever I was there! =) She prepared for us fresh steamed rice, dried fish (danggit) is how they called it, and oysters.
Oysters you say? Yeah. With the advent of fish cages in the sea surrounding the island, the population of oysters and mussels have increased tremendously, and gathering some oysters have never been so easy -- just flip a rock or two and voila! Instant oysters for you.
I am not into seashells actually (I only eat mussels and a few others), but since I ate breakfast earlier than mom, I just opened some oysters for her:
Of course, mom was so happy about it - instant oysters for her! Mom really loves oysters, and she didn't eat rice anymore actually, she just ate all the oysters she can eat that moment. Well, I cannot blame her, oysters here in Metro Manila costs way too much and it's really rare for us to see some in the market. Here, not only were the oysters fresh, it's free as well!
