Belfry

Sis' View

These pictures were from our Vigan Trip last March. This is the belfry of the Bantay Church in Bantay, Ilocos Sur (just a minute away from Vigan City). My siblings and I first went there in 2006, but we weren't able to go up the belfry, so that time, we made sure we check out the view from the top. We were lucky because there were tourism officers in the church grounds who give keys of the belfry to selected tourists who would want to check the panoramic view of the place.

Going up the belfry was a tough task to do, and I admit I had a hard time going up especially on that last stair, but once at the top, it felt so wonderful. I cannot lean over the window too much because I am afraid of heights, but I really had a great time seeing people down below. I just hate it that the bells and part of the wall inside had a lot of graffiti. Some tourists truly don't know how to appreciate history and all that.

There's a chance for us to go back to Vigan in October. If that one pushes through, we will be back here in the belfry for sure!
