A New Persona

My dear friend Ahdz just announced that she's expecting a baby, and this early, she's been very busy making sure all things will be good. Well, the path she's walking on is certainly a very rocky one, and as a friend all I can really do is to be a friend to her - making sure I don't add more stress to what she already has.

It's still very very early to think of what bottles, clothes, and other things to stock up in preparation for her to become a mother, but I am already thinking of giving her a pair of maternity jeans because last time we talked, she has already started complaining of weight gain and not being able to wear some her clothes. Actually, she is already starting to fear she don't have enough pants to wear at the office. Pregnancy is not just for the baby, is it? Of course when the baby arrives, I will also give my share of the baby things, but for now, I am more concerned about my friend above all else.

Being a mother does not really start when a woman gives birth. It starts that little pregnancy kit gives out two pink lines. And in order for a woman not to have pre-natal blues, people around her (especially close friends and family) make sure she's taken cared of. I know my friend is off on a rocky start - and no chances of that road being smooth just yet, so my contribution to taking care of her are my ears. I listen to her and give my support because it's really the thing that she needs.

She already said I will be one of her baby's godmother. Wow, that's an honor! Thanks dear. Have a happy pregnancy even though it's not that easy at this point. Just hang on there.
